How To Understand Women (or try to)

Women are the most intriguing and fascinating creatures on earth. Some may agree, some won't. To those who agree, I salute you. I am one with you. To those who are in disbelief, hear this: you might need to change a bit of your thinking and beliefs.

Why, you ask?

A few days ago I've stumbled into a conversation. It's those times when you're not supposed to hear people talk but overheard them anyway. Here's the meat of the topic...

Guy 1: Girls are weird, man.
Guy 2: Yeah.
Guy 1: I was with my girl, we were really cool, and then suddenly she acts like she does not care. I mean what's going on? We were having fun and a few minutes later she became cold and distant. I tried to comfort her but she ended up worse. What happened?
Guy 2: Maybe she wanted something?
Guy 1: I don't know, man. She was cool but she went 180. It's really weird. Girls are weird. They say what they want and then change their minds faster than a blink of an eye. It's hard to keep up with them.
Guy 2: Agree. If only we knew how to work our way with these "obstacles" they place. It would be easier for us guys to deal with all the "mind games" that they play.

I cringed, hearing these guys whine about how they always get "tooled and schooled" by the girls. Whiners. That's the last thing women need in this day and age.
My brothers, if you're too much concerned with what and how women think, then you're on the wrong side of the field.
If you still don't get it, as with those "whiners" above (God I hate guys who constantly whine about girls this and that and so and so), let me share to you a story about two animals. Read on.

The Scorpion and the Frog

One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.
The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.
Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.
"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"
"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.
"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"
Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"
"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"
"Alright then...how do I know you won't just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.
"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"
So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.
Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.
"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"
The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drowning frog's back.
"I could not help myself. It is my nature."
Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.
Self destruction - "It's my Nature", said the Scorpion...

There you have it. No need to explain further.
Did you guys get it? I hope so. One way to know is to tell me what you think, in the space below.

  1. This was a beautiful post. And the story of the scorpion and the frog made it more meaningful. In my humble opinion, men and women should meet halfway. And acceptance of the differences between men and women both physically and emotionally is key. There is no other way. :-)

    1. Excellent way to put it Irene, meeting halfway, and the acceptance of the so-called gender roles is important. What people lack is the basic understanding of these principles, and knowledge of these principles is really not rocket science. It's fun, actually. :)

  2. Hi Earl, Is the Scorpion the analogy for women in the story? Or men?

  3. It is a nature for a guy to not understand girls in some ways? Or is it a nature for a girl to be complicated at times? haha Just thinking! nice post! =)

    1. To answer your question, yes it's guys' nature to not understand girls, and a yes for girls to be complicated at times.

Guys tend to look for ways to understand how girls think, act and feel, but the thing is, guys can't find (and will never find) an answer!

  5. this is why i'd love to be a caveman, the males do not try to understand their woman. they just club em until they pass out and drag them to their caves.
