My View of the World: Singapore (part 1)

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

A few weeks ago I was very fortunate to have the chance to go to some of the best places in Asia, and for this segment I am going to highlight our first itinerary, the Lion City, Singapore.

As far as I know, Singapore's Changi Airport is one of the best airports in Asia, or maybe in the world. It boasts of its lush scenery, filled with gardens, some other interesting stuff to do, and of course, retail shops for the shopping folks.

When in the airport, check this out. You get a paper and crayon then rub it from the many designs on the table. This was mine.

Upon arriving, I was amazed on how organized the taxi bay was. There was an abundant supply of taxis. The coolest part is that some of the cabs are actually luxury cars here!

My first taxi ride outside of the country. And this driver is good, showed us around, kinda like a tour guide.

The Singapore Flyer, one of the best tourist spots here. (more later)

Our first destination is Istana Park. Some say the park looks really great at night, unfortunately we went in the afternoon, and only because it rained and we needed shelter.

The Festival Arch, which looks good at night.

Orchard Road is the place to be for shopping afficionados, as it is a long road of almost everything - from apparel to jewelry, appliances, electronics, and food.

Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is an observation wheel, resembling a ferris-wheel, which gives you a view of the whole city from its apex. I was able to take some shots from the pinnacle (I don't have acrophobia).

The entrance to the observatory.

A view at nighttime

In the next segment we will go to one of the best places to be in Singapore - Resorts World Sentosa. Stay tuned!
